Between a Man and a Woman

The process of having a child is, in my opinion, a very unfair one. It is abhorrent that the woman has to do the majority of the work. I mean, yeah, I know, both of them have to do one particular job to have the  baby in the first place, but once they’ve finished making the batter and they’ve put it in the cake tin, they put it in the oven and wait for it to be done. The woman is left to make sure the oven stays at a suitable temperature and that the mixture doesn’t burn.

In an ideal world, the process would be so much kinder. That’s why I’ve come up with the solution. A wonderful way for men and women to have an equal share. They need to grow half of the baby each. This would involve an anatomy change for men, but they wouldn’t need an entire womb, as they would only be growing half a baby. So the woman could just give the man half her womb and one of her ovaries. And voila! Eureka! I can imagine it – a woman sitting alongside her husband. They would both have a bump, but it wouldn’t be half as big, as there would only be half a baby.

They would give birth together. The man of course would have to have a caesarean section (I don’t think I need to explain why to my educated audience). Once the two halves were born the magic would really happen. They could watch on as their baby became whole. Their creation. All it would take would be a bit of icing in the middle and there you have it. A baby.

I don’t know who’s going to sort this idea of mine out. It won’t be me anyway! I know nothing about biology. But I know it’s possible. Someone should get onto it…
